Simone Gamble is a community organizer. When we created this piece, she was an active member of the East Flatbush Copwatch team which empowers and increases safety in local communities by monitors police activity and sharing “ Know your Rights” information with the local community. The practice of monitoring and documenting police activity deters abuse and killings. As long as you are not interfering with police activity, monitoring and documenting the police is legal and a constitutionally protected right.
